Really quick practice with an environment...and by quick, I mean around an hour. Maybe I'll revisit this and add more detail later, but for now...it's just practice. It's not great, but it's something. I'm open to any tips or suggestions on good ways to work with foliage!

It's a location in one of the fantasy worlds in my head - a mist-drenched forest that is almost perpetually flooded, and the inhabitants (who I hope to introduce at some point) live an arboreal, fire-less, somewhat tribal lifestyle. Much of their architecture is grown or woven, since they have no metal tools. For a real-world comparison, combine a redwood forest with a mangrove swamp, with a bit of rainforest thrown in - it's wet, temperate, and wild.

...Have any tips on painting trees and leaves? Heh...I want them to look good but at the same time it can be somewhat tedious.

I would try some sort of brush that has lots of random or abstract shapes, you can use that to lay the ground work inand then paint in more careful detail by hand. You dont have to get photo realism, if the lighting and colors work, some level of abstraction will look just fine.
